German tourist severely injured by big fish off beach in Thailand
A German tourist was bitten by a big fish while swimming at Khao Lak Beach in Phang Nga Province, Thailand, leaving him severely injured.
According to The Nation Thailand, the incident occurred on 29 Nov, during which the 57-year-old male tourist was attacked by a big fish while entering the water at the beach.
Saved by lifeguard
A 29-year-old lifeguard working at a nearby hotel had rescued the man from the ocean.
The incident left the tourist with a serious wound about 15cm wide and 30cm long on his left leg.
He was sent to a hospital on Phuket Island for emergency treatment.

According to preliminary investigations, the injured tourist may have been bitten by a shark.
However, the authorities are still waiting for experts to further analyse and confirm which fish had bitten the man.
Safety measures in place
Local authorities, such as the Takua Pa district sheriff, the president of the Phang Nga Tourism Business Association, and marine resource officials, visited the site to investigate the incident.
The authorities and hotels have erected warning flags on the beaches to alert visitors to possible dangers and issued an advisory urging them to be vigilant when swimming.
The Phang Nga Tourism Business Association stated that it is working with relevant parties to look into the issue and introduce further safety precautions.
