Couple At Upper Boon Keng Pak Tor On Outdoor Bench, People Call The Police On Them
Couples out there, please take note: Dating in real life during the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period isn’t okay.
A couple in Upper Boon Keng Road found that out that hard way when they were fined $600 after they failed to, ahem, practice safe distancing in public.
A viral post on Facebook shows police talking to a man and a woman soon after they were caught canoodling on a bench.
They were fined for being outdoors and not adhering to safe distancing measures. Not the time for this stuff, fellas.
Police tipped off about Boon Keng couple
According to STOMP, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) received reports that 2 people were sitting on a bench that was very obviously cordoned off with tape.
From the photo, it seems they were K-I-S-S-I-N-G as well.
That, or he was trying to resuscitate her after she’d fainted. Your guess is as good as mine.
On the table were what seems to be a whiskey bottle and a mixer. Considering the time was 8.38am when the police received the report, they seemed to have been there for a while.
Fined $300 each for not safe distancing
Soon after, the police arrived and the man and woman, aged 20 and 19 respectively, were fined $300 each for not safe distancing.
Thankfully, they left after being fined, which is the point of calling the police on them in the first place.
Worse still, because they’re not considered “adult” Singaporeans – i.e. aged 21 and above – they won’t be getting that $600 payout that could have been used to pay their fines. Sad!
Now’s really not the time — stay at home
During the ‘Circuit Breaker’, we shouldn’t be sitting on benches outdoors. There’s a reason why it was cordoned off, man.
Now that the police can fine anyone that has been found to breach the rules on safe distancing, it’s a sign of how seriously we need to take them.
Stay at home, guys, and remember to practice safe distancing outdoors.
If you wanna date, well, you’ll have to do that virtually for now — or get married and move in together.
