Officers also set up a police cordon at the scene, blocking off a footpath. The authorities then searched the water from the shore using torches.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told MS News that they received a call for water rescue assistance along the Kallang River at 11.10pm.

They rescued a person from the water and sent him to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

However, the medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Red PMA found near riverbank

A crowd of residents formed during the emergency services’ response.

One such resident said the rumours were that a person fell into the river and was rescued by the SCDF. However, they did not know about the status of the deceased.

After the SCDF left, the police continued investigating the surrounding area.

Shin Min also reported a red Personal Mobility Aid (PMA) taken inside the police cordon near the river.

Police officers then took it away, presumably as evidence.

The police do not currently suspect foul play in the incident, which is under ongoing investigation.
