Nick Fury Triggered After SMRT Poster Shows His Eyepatch On The Wrong Side

This Nick Fury Poster Was Allegedly Seen At Newton MRT

With the Avengers series now a thing of the past, Marvel fans are now eagerly awaiting the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which hits cinemas on 2 Jul.

With such hype surrounding the blockbuster movie, everything seems to be on the right track, at least till now.

On 20 Jun, a Spider-Man movie poster allegedly seen at Newton MRT station was shared on the CrappyDesign Subreddit.

Nothing seems amiss to most of us, but die-hard Marvel fans would instantly notice that Nick Fury’s eye patch is on the wrong side of his face in the left poster.

Nick Fury’s eyepatch covers his left eye

For the uninitiated, Nick Fury wears his signature eyepatch to hide his missing left eye.

The natural follow-up question as to how he lost his eye depends on whether you’re watching the Marvel movies, or reading the comics.

In the Marvel cinematic universe, an alien feline scratched his eye, but in the comics, one ‘version’ of Nick Fury lost it to a grenade blast, while another had it ‘cut out’ by his secret son.

Samuel L. Jackson ain’t pleased

A few days after the Reddit post went up, Samuel L. Jackson, the actor who plays Nick Fury in the movies caught wind of the misprinted poster too.

He took to his own Instagram page on Monday (24 Jun) to express his ‘displeasure’.

His post has since gone viral with over 340,000 likes at the time of writing.

With the attention the poster had garnered, it looks like this isn’t going to be something that can be simply swept under the carpet.

No such thing as bad publicity

Even though Nick Fury’s eyepatch may have been worn on the wrong side in the poster, this is unlikely to affect the ticket sales of the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

If anything, this unintentional cock-up may end up bringing more attention to the blockbuster film.

After all, as the saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, and this is likely to be no exception.
