Both Northpoint City Cleaners With Covid-19 Are Singaporean Men
On Saturday (9 May), the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 753 new cases of Covid-19.
While the majority of them continue to involve Work Permit holders living in dormitories, 2 Singaporeans who work as cleaners at Northpoint City also tested positive for the coronavirus.
Northpoint City cluster grows to 18 with another 2 cleaners testing positive
According to ChannelNews Asia (CNA), the 2 patients are reported as Cases 22321 and 22322.
Both Singaporean men, the former is 60 years old while the latter is 77 years old.
The younger of the 2 first experienced symptoms on 12 Apr while the other reported having them 2 days later on 14 Apr.
The new cases are reportedly linked to Cases 3003 and 3682 — Singaporean women who tested positive in mid-April.
With the 2 cases and another which the authorities presumably established links for, 18 Covid-19 patients are now linked to the Northpoint City cluster which first emerged on 25 Apr.
9 Singaporeans and PRs reported with coronavirus
The 2 Northpoint City cleaners were part of the 9 Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PR) reported on Saturday (9 May).
Another 2 of these cases are linked to a worksite at Tanah Merah Coast Road and 1 other patient is a resident at Acacia Home in Admiralty.

The remaining 3 cases are currently unlinked.
That said, the average number of community cases – which counts Singaporeans, PRs, and Work Pass holders – has decreased from 12 per day in the week before to 10 per day over the past week.
Unlinked cases in the community are also following a downward trajectory, down from 5 to 4 over the same period.
Over 98% involve Work Permit holders living in dormitories
The majority of cases reported on Saturday (9 May) continue to involve Work Permit holders staying in dormitories
In fact, 739 of the 753 new cases fall under this category, accounting for over 98%.
Another 3 Work Permit holders who live outside dormitories were also part of the new cases.
Hope those infected will recover soon
MS News would like to wish all patients infected with the coronavirus a speedy recovery and hope they’ll be discharged soon.
While the number of cases in the community has decreased, we cannot take ‘Circuit Breaker’ measures lightly and should persevere to bring down the number of such cases further.
We also hope the cases in dormitories would subside soon so social and work activities can resume normalcy.
