Python in Malaysia devours mother goat & its 2 kids
A 7.1m-long python was captured in Kelantan, Malaysia after it swallowed a mother goat and its two newborn kids on Sunday (27 Oct).
Farmer Kamariah Mohd Kassim made the discovery when she went to return a goat that had escaped from the pen at 7am.
To her surprise, she found a large python inside and realised that three of her 15 goats were missing.
This wasn’t the first time Ms Kassim had encountered a python in her livestock area — the reptiles have previously feasted on her chickens and geese.
In fact, this was the fourth incident involving pythons in her farming area.
Python too full to move, weighed 240kg
After the shocking discovery, Ms Kassim and her husband quickly called the Guchil Volunteer Fire Brigade to capture the python.
According to the brigade’s leader, Mohd Hamdan Mahadi, they received the report at 7.15am and promptly sent three volunteer firefighters, along with seven members of the Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Department, to the scene.
Since the python was too full to move, Mr Mahadi and his team, with help from local villagers, managed to catch it in just three minutes.
The entire operation went smoothly and took about 10 minutes in total.
Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director Nik Ahmad revealed that the reticulated python weighed around 240kg after feasting on the goats.
It has since been handed over to the Kuala Krai Wildlife and National Parks Department for further action.
