Rat Allegedly Takes A Nap Inside Random Chicken At Toa Payoh Kopitiam

Second Rat Incident In Toa Payoh In 6 Days

Recently, a rat was seen scurrying around a Teochew restaurant located in Toa Payoh.

Well, it seems like Toa Payoh may be having a slight rodent problem.

On Wednesday (3 Apr), a video showing a rat snuggled in a chicken at a Toa Payoh kopitiam was shared on the All Singapore Stuff Facebook page.

Rat finds shelter inside a random chicken

As the video starts, several of what seemed like boiled chicken are seen in a blue basket.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary until the person taking the footage zooms in to one of the chicken.

A pair of bright eyes can be seen staring right back at the camera from the chicken’s rear opening.

The rat presumably felt threatened by the person’s presence and sought refuge further inside the chicken.

The person behind the video then kicked the basket several times to get the rat to vacate the hollow chicken.

After a few attempts, the rat dashed out of the chicken but failed to escape the plastic bag, as the video ends.

Chicken left lying around in kopitiam

The video’s description suggests that the chickens were left lying around at a kopitiam along Toa Payoh Lorong 4 — around 1 kilometre away from the previous rat incident.

It also added that the rat might have been ‘sleeping’ in the chicken, presumably before the start of the video.

Responding to netizens’ comments, All Singapore Stuff uploaded another video an hour after sharing the initial footage, showing the name of the kopitiam, and the basket of chickens that were left in the open.

Too many rat incidents in Toa Payoh

We hope that the chickens in the video were meant for disposals and that nobody was affected as a result of this unexpected rat invasion.

Given the frequent rat sightings in Toa Payoh, perhaps it’s time the authorities step in and solve this rodent issue.
