Shangri-La Hotel Lights Up With Uplifting Message To Cheer On Essential Workers From 28 Apr

As Singapore continues to report hundreds of Covid-19 cases per day, some of us, including frontline workers, might be feeling discouraged.

In light of this, Shangri-La Hotel near Orchard Road recently lit up their establishment with an “SG ♥️ ” message since Tuesday (28 Apr), cheering on workers amid these difficult times.

Hotels may be suffering from a lack of guests, but that’s not stopping them from cheering on our essential workers.

From Tuesday (28 Apr), Shangri-La Hotel will illuminate 121 rooms with the inspiring message to show solidarity with essential workers.

The message is short, but simple, reminding us that we will eventually overcome the huge obstacle.

The display will reportedly last 3.5 hours each night until Friday (1 May), according to Lianhe Zaobao.

In their Facebook post, the hotel quoted the lyrics from the song ‘Home’ which represent our love for the country,

This is home, surely, as my senses tell me. This is where I won’t be alone, for this is where I know it’s Home.

Many of us hope to resume our normal lives ASAP and go outdoors with our friends and family. While that’s not happening soon, Singaporeans can stay inspired by looking at the heartwarming message.

MBS also has similar light display

Earlier this month, MS News reported that the iconic Marina Bay Sands had put up a similar light display to cheer Singapore on.

Appreciate the view, but stay indoors

Nearby residents may be tempted to go out to snap a picture of the stunning display. However, we urge you to stay indoors and appreciate the view instead.

Stopping Covid-19 requires a collective effort so we need to do our part by following the ‘Circuit Breaker’ measures. Here’s to hoping we can overcome this challenge soon!
