One of the men allegedly brought a weapon while confronting staff at Orchard Plaza porridge shop
Three men have been arrested after a dispute in Orchard Plaza where one allegedly brought a weapon to confront staff at a Teochew porridge shop.
The frightening incident took place at about 8am last Saturday (27 July) morning, reported Shin Min Daily News.
A reader had tipped the paper off about three foreign men causing trouble at the ground floor of the mall.
Men were teasing female customers at eatery
55-year-old Ms Hong (transliterated from Mandarin), a supervisor at the eatery, told Shin Min that two of the men were first seen there at 6am that morning.
Her colleagues told her that they were teasing two female customers who weren’t acquainted with them.
A friend of the women told them to leave, and the morning shift supervisor also told them to leave as they didn’t want trouble, especially as the shop had been open for only a about week.
When told to leave, the men started swearing. Though they appeared drunk, they were still quite sober, she said.

Unexpectedly, when Ms Hong arrived at the shop to start her shift at 8am, the men returned — this time with a weapon.
They demanded to know where the morning shift supervisor was, claiming they had been injured and demanding compensation for medical expenses.
One of them was allegedly carrying a pan and a bottle of bleach.
As Ms Hong was concerned for the safety of her staff, she immediately called the police as she took a video for evidence.
While she was doing so, a knife fell out of his pocket.

Another two men, aged 18 and 21, were also arrested for consorting with persons carrying offensive weapons.
