Cold Stone Creamery says woman applied for a job but it didn’t hire her

A former Auntie Anne’s Malaysia employee, Alice Chang, who gained notoriety for a viral photo of her kissing dough, appears to have resurfaced in another F&B outlet.

On Saturday (12 Oct), Ms Chang shared a masked and hair-netted selfie on Instagram, claiming she was now working at Cold Stone Creamery in Pavilion Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

Cold Stone Creamery says woman hid identity to apply for job

After being alerted of her post, Cold Stone Creamery Malaysia responded with a statement on Facebook the same evening.

According to the café, Ms Chang approached the Pavilion outlet for a part-time position but concealed her identity.

Cold Stone emphasised that it did not hire her and stated that “she did not have access to the food”. The company also said:

As part of our proactive measure (sic) we have thoroughly cleaned the outlet.

Some netizens sympathise with woman, say Cold Stone Creamery was ‘mean’

Cold Stone’s statement sparked mixed reactions.

While some netizens made fun of Ms Chang, others expressed sympathy, suggesting she deserves an opportunity to earn a living.

Another netizen felt it was unkind of the company to say that it “thoroughly cleaned the outlet” just because she went there.

Skeptical netizens also questioned Cold Stone’s assertion that Ms Chang was not hired, pointing out that her selfie seemed to be taken inside the premises.

Family adds fuel to controversy

Adding to the situation, a Facebook user named Adeline Chang, claiming to be Alice’s sister, posted that Alice was indeed working at Cold Stone Creamery.

She also said her sister was “clean and hygienic”.

Later, in response to Cold Stone’s denial, Adeline posted images showing what appeared to be Cold Stone’s point-of-sale system, allegedly from 12 Oct, raising doubts about the café’s statement.

Woman says she’s working at McDonald’s now

Be that as it may, it seems that Ms Chang has moved on.

On Sunday (13 Oct), she posted on Instagram again, showing her behind the counter of a McDonald’s outlet.

She said that she was now working at an outlet of the fast-food chain in Petaling Jaya, and pleaded for netizens “not to follow her around”, adding:

I just want to work properly at a job and earn income… please do not cause Alice Chang to lose her job again, can or not!

However, it seems she can’t help but enjoy the attention as she posted a video of a “fan” waving to her.

Sisters are notorious on social media

According to the Malay Mail, the sisters Adeline and Alice have gained notoriety across Malaysian social media due to their antics.

Adeline was known for allegedly ordering private-hire rides via Grab and AirAsia Ride, claiming not to have enough money and fleeing without paying.

She allegedly did this at shops, too, including a nail salon and beauty salon, netizens have claimed over social media.

Adeline has maintained that she was slandered.

Both sisters have also been invited to TikTok livestreams and collaborations with influencers, the Malay Mail reported.
