Singaporean Man Also Left Pan Pacific Suites Room Thrice During SHN From 26 Mar-9 Apr
Breaching Stay-Home Notice (SHN) can lead to some pretty hefty fines, but some people still continue to do so for various reasons.
One offender who breached his SHN for bak kut teh was recently sentenced to 6 weeks’ jail.
On Wednesday (6 May), another Singaporean man faces charges in court for breaching his SHN on 3 separate occasions.
Left room thrice during SHN at Pan Pacific Suites
The 37-year-old man, Mr Chng Tianxi, returned from Thailand on 26 Mar. He was served an SHN from 26 Mar-9 Apr, according to Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
Mr Chng reportedly specified that he would stay at Pan Pacific Service Suites Orchard during the 2-week period.
However, he left his room thrice during his stay, and even brought a friend into his room on 2 occasions.
Brought people into his room
Mr Chng first left his room on 1 Apr at around 1.25am. He took the lift down to the basement carpark and brought a friend up to his room. His friend apparently stayed until around 5am.
He reportedly brought the same friend back to his room 3 days later on 4 Apr at around 12.35am.
This time, his friend stayed for a shorter period and left around 2am.
An ICA officer subsequently visited Mr Chng on 5 Apr, reminding him to stay in his room.
Mr Chng did not adhere to the advice and left his room the next day to meet 3 friends at the hotel’s carpark.
Together, they visited the 16th floor of the premises and Mr Chng only returned to his room about 10 minutes later.
Will be charged in court on 6 May
All 3 occasions were counted as wilful breaches of his SHN.
For flouting SHN rules, Mr Chng will be charged in court today (6 May).
He faces a fine of up to $10,000, up to 6 months in jail, or both.
Please take SHN seriously
Breaching SHN puts others at risk, and comes with some pretty severe consequences.
Still, some don’t seem to understand that as they continue to dismiss it despite the potential charges.
Hopefully, this incident will serve as a warning for all observing their SHN to adhere strictly to the rules.
