Falcon tears into alleged pigeon on Havelock roof, photographed by HDB resident

Falcon eats pigeon on HDB roof, stares into camera

A man recently spotted a falcon devouring a pigeon on an HDB roof in Havelock.

Mr Silas Lim told MS News he caught the sight from the 14th floor of Block 2 Jalan Kukoh on Tuesday (19 Nov) morning.

He said he noticed a bird standing on a rooftop about 100 metres away, next to some lightning rods.

At first glance, the resident assumed it was just a crow.

However, Mr Lim paused upon noticing the bird’s head, which appeared different.

Taking a closer look, he realised it was a bird of prey, likely a Peregrine Falcon.

Interestingly, the falcon appears to be standing on an animal that it had killed, covered in grey feathers.

While Mr Lim could not identify the prey, he shared that it looked like a pigeon.

In a video shared on Facebook, the falcon was seen looking around its surroundings, occasionally bending down and ripping chunks of meat using its beak.

Mr Lim told MS News that he had to remain calm at the impressive sight to keep the camera stable.

At one point, the falcon seemingly stared straight into the camera with a humours expression.

Nonetheless, the bird of prey continued digging into its meal with its beak.

Meanwhile, a user sarcastically replied that the flacon would “return his tray” in response to another netizen who asked if the bird would leave the carcass on the roof.
