Car bends in V-shape around tree in M’sia after skidding

A car ended up beng into a dramatic V-shape after it skidded and collided with a tree in Kerteh, Terengganu, Malaysia, on Monday morning (9 Dec).

The crash occurred around 7.40am after the driver reportedly failed to overtake another vehicle, sending his car veering off the road.

Photos of the scene show the vehicle wrapped tightly around the tree, its frame completely bent into a V-shape. The extent of the damage left onlookers in shock.

Driver’s feet were stuck for over 30 minutes

Kerteh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Operations Commander Mohd Nazri Ahmad said the team received an emergency call at 7.40am and dispatched nine personnel to the scene.

Upon their arrival, they found the male driver trapped in the front passenger seat, with both of his feet wedged against the gas pedal. He was conscious.

“The fire department took between 30 and 40 minutes to remove the victim from the vehicle and the operation ended at 8.37 am,” he told Sinar Harian.

Driver suffers fractures on limbs

The driver sustained significant injuries, including fractures to his left ankle and right leg. He was rushed to Kemaman Hospital for treatment.

According to Mr Nazri, the victim shared that he was en route from work to his home and had planned to meet a friend for breakfast but never made it due to the accident.

In August 2024, a car carrying a family of four also skidded and collided into a tree. The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle and claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl.
