Bus & MRT Services Will End Later On CNY Eve So You Can Shou Sui With Friends & Still Make It Home

Last Bus & MRT Services Will Leave Past 2am On 24 Jan

Chinese New Year is coming and that means late nights at the mahjong table with those relatives you see once a year.

Both SBS and SMRT have announced that their bus and MRT services will be extended on the eve of CNY, which is 24 Jan.

Now, you can have a little more time to squeeze in those last few rounds of ban luck or beat your cousin at poker.

But if your parents ask, you can tell them that you’re observing shou sui, the tradition of staying up on CNY Eve till the first day of CNY for your parents’ longevity.

Last trains will leave past midnight

Even if you don’t have any pre-CNY plans, you’d probably be squeezing in a last-minute catch-up session with your friends on CNY Eve.

Dinner after work may lead to a long karaoke session which ends in the wee hours of the night. Ride-hailing fares are expensive then, and public transport services will usually be unavailable.

But fortunately for you, all train services will be extended on Friday (24 Jan).
