Couple Continues With Wedding Reception During Flood & Donates Excess Food
A wedding is a significant milestone for every couple as it is a public declaration of their love and commitment to each other.
Thus, the special day needs to run smoothly, with everything going as planned.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be the exact opposite for this Malaysian couple, whose big day was sabotaged by a flood in Dec 2021.
However, instead of cancelling or postponing their wedding, they continued with the reception and even donated the surplus food to other flood victims.
Bride shares about flooded wedding reception on TikTok
To mark her and her husband’s first anniversary, the bride shared about their unintentionally unconventional nuptials in a series of photos in a TikTok slideshow.
The wedding preparations were going smoothly at first, and her best friend even travelled from out of town to help her.
In the photos, it appears that the couple managed to share a few blissful moments with each other before disaster struck.
As the party made their way to the reception venue, they discovered that the drain was clogged and the entire area was flooded.
Undeterred, the couple simply continued with their wedding photoshoot while standing in the water.
Despite the water reaching noticeably high levels, the reception was in full swing, with wedding guests enjoying the food at their tables as if nothing had happened.
The couple even cut their wedding cake and had multiple photoshoots with their guests with their feet in the water.
Donates excess wedding favours to flood relief centres
Although the flood ruined most of the area, they managed to salvage some food and wedding favours.
Not wanting the goodies to go to waste, the newlyweds decided to donate them to flood relief centres.
In another slideshow, the bride shared that they had to inform some friends that they no longer needed to attend the wedding.
As such, the couple resorted to FaceTiming them during the reception.
Kudos to the couple for donating the excess wedding favours
It must have been upsetting for the couple to have their meticulously planned wedding reception ruined by the flood.
However, it’s heartwarming to see how they made the best out of an unpleasant situation and still managed to have an enjoyable time with their loved ones.
What’s more, they even did some good by donating their excess wedding favours to flood relief centres.
While it was an unusual wedding, it’ll surely be one that both the couple and their guests will remember for years to come.
