IKEA isn’t just known for its meatballs and chicken wings — its gargantuan size and wide range of affordable homeware is unparalleled.
Many Singaporeans love visiting IKEA just to walk around the winding paths of their stores and play ‘house’ in their cosy displays.
Come 2021, IKEA Singapore will be opening its third outlet in Jem, taking over Robinsons as their new anchor tenant.

The new outlet will also be Southeast Asia’s first ‘small-format store’.
IKEA new outlet in Jem will have full product range
Size-wise, the new 6,500 square-metre store is a far cry from the labyrinths of IKEA’s Alexandria and Tampines outlets, but that doesn’t mean it is any inferior.
The store won’t have a children’s play area, but the full range of products will still be available.
They will also serve their signature Swedish meatballs and succulent chicken wings too.
IKEA Jem will be first ‘small-concept store’Â in Southeast Asia
IKEA Jem will be Southeast Asia’s first taste of their ‘small-format store’ concept.
They’ve already rolled it out in major cities like New York and London, so it’s no wonder that they’re targeting Singapore for their first Southeast Asian store.
Their New York outlets let shoppers plan their homes, focusing on interior design and functionality.
London pioneered the concept stores in 2018, complementing the smaller stores with mini FRAKTA bags — perhaps we’ll see them here too!
We’re not sure how the IKEA outlet at Jem will look yet, but we’re looking forward to finding out.

Making IKEA more accessible
With yet another IKEA outlet in the West, Singaporeans living there will soon have a new destination when they’re out with their families.
Here’s to more frequent visits to IKEA, and chicken wings to boot.
Hopefully, social distancing won’t hinder our excursions to the homeware retail giant’s newest outlet in 2021.
