Kids Have Beyblade Battle At HDB Void Deck, Scene Brings Back Fond Childhood Memories

Group Of Kids Spotted Having A Beyblade Battle At HDB Void Deck

One of the most iconic toys of the past would have to be Beyblade — the spinning-top toys which gained popularity from the original anime franchise.

Those who grew up in the early 2000s would remember having Beyblade battles with their friends to pass the time, back when mobile devices weren’t as prevalent as they are now.

Fast forward nearly 20 years later and nobody would have thought that this nostalgic game would be played again by young kids today. However, Beyblade’s appeal truly appears to have withstood the test of time.

In a TikTok video, a group of young kids were spotted playing with Beyblades at a void deck.

Netizens were amazed by the fact that kids today still play with what their generation would consider retro toys.

Kids cheer & scream over Beyblade battle at their void deck

In the caption, the OP, Khairul, stated that he had gone downstairs to the minimart when he spotted a group of kids playing with Beyblades at the void deck.

The video then starts off with Khairul asking the kids to “show them how it’s done”.

Upon hearing this, the kids put their game face on, and get into position with their Beyblades.

At the count of three, they shout, “Let it rip!” in unison, and pull on their launchers to release their Beyblades.

The OP can be heard laughing in the background, perhaps amused by the fact that these young children are still playing such a nostalgic game.

As their Beyblades spin in battle in the plastic arena, the kids cheer and shout for their ‘fighters’, hoping to emerge victorious.

Ultimately, one of the Beyblades stops spinning and topples in defeat.

The other kids have the same look of excitement on their faces after witnessing such an intense battle.

In response to MS News’ queries, Khairul shared that the kids had been playing at the void deck for at least half an hour.

He also shared that he even played a little bit of football with them at the void deck after their Beyblade battles. The kids also had a capteh, a traditional game involving a feathered shuttlecock, which implied their interest in other old-school games as well.

Scene brings back waves of nostalgia for many

In his caption, the OP called the kids “legend(s)”, impressed by the fact that they are still playing with such retro toys.

Several netizens shared the same sentiments. Many of them mentioned that these Beyblades reminded them of good childhood memories.

Many other TikTok users also shared that they used to be like these children, and play with other kids in their neighbourhood.

One netizen even reminded others about another version of Beyblade that Singaporeans used to play with country flag erasers.

People would insert staple bullets into their erasers, allowing them to spin like Beyblades. They would then use these erasers to battle like how one would with Beyblades.

It is definitely heartening to see that kids today still possess a strong interest in toys of the past.
