Man slaps woman at MRT station after she throws his keys on floor
An argument between a man and a woman, presumably a couple, recently drew a crowd at an MRT station in Singapore, though the exact location and date of the incident remain unknown.
The altercation was captured on video and posted on Reddit by u/sweet-lil-thang on 22 Oct, sparking mixed reactions from netizens.
Man gives woman backhand slap during argument
In the 25-second clip, the woman is seen grabbing the man’s keys from his wrist before throwing them to the ground and shouting: “Give me my phone!”
In response, the man steps forward and delivers a backhand slap to the woman in front of the watching crowd.
He then reaches into his bag, takes the woman’s phone out, and throws it on the ground as well.
Shortly after, the woman takes an object from the man’s hand and walks away.
Netizens take sides
The video prompted varied responses from viewers. A netizen speculated that the argument started because the man was withholding the woman’s phone.
Several netizens condemned the man’s actions, calling the slap an act of abuse, and suggested that he could have simply returned her phone without resorting to violence.
Others were more critical of both individuals, with some saying that their behaviour showed that they “deserved each other”.
One commenter pointed out the lack of intervention from the crowd, implying that bystanders should have stepped in. However, another user responded by saying it’s often better to avoid getting involved in such situations.
