The woman had gone missing off the coast of Sentosa Island while on an expedition with three other companions on 22 Oct.

SCDF DART divers & MPA involved in search

SCDF had earlier shared that they deployed an SCDF Marine Rescue Vessel for the search operation.

They had also activated divers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART).

In addition, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) informed ST that their patrol craft was involved in the search, and they were coordinating efforts with the Police Coast Guard and SCDF.

To assist with the operation, MPA had issued a navigation broadcast to passing ships to report sightings of distressed persons in the area.

Kayaker had attempted to save companion

According to Channel NewsAsia (CNA), there had been reports of a man and a woman capsizing on 22 Oct between 9.30am and 10am, off the southern end of Sentosa.

They were part of a group of three who had been kayaking from Sentosa to the Southern Islands on their own boats. A fourth companion subsequently joined them.

The male kayaker had capsized first. While trying to help him, the woman had unfortunately overturned as well.

A passing boat eventually rescued the man, but the woman remained missing.

The boat had subsequently picked up a second kayak, picking up what they believed were her belongings, including a personal floatation device.
