Rear dashcam footage posted on the SG Road Vigilante (SGRV) Facebook page showed a green BYD Atto 3 cruising down the rightmost lane on Mandai Road.

Cars packed the lanes to the driver’s left.

Spotting a gap in the middle lane, the driver attempted to cut in and overtake a black car.

At the same time, a lane-splitting motorcyclist tried to overtake the BYD with the help of the middle lane’s gap.

He ended up hitting the corner of the car and lost his balance.

He managed to sit up while the driver of the second car alighted to check on him.

Injured motorcyclist taken to hospital

The police told MS News that the accident involved a motorcycle and two cars along Mandai Road towards Woodlands Road, before the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).

Paramedics conveyed a 22-year-old male motorcyclist to Woodlands Hospital in a conscious state.

Many netizens criticised the car driver for only using the turn signal right before actually changing lanes.

Others leapt to blame the motorcyclist for lane-splitting.

Meanwhile, one commenter opined that both had some fault, with the motorcyclist going too fast while lane-splitting.

They also acknowledged that the car only made a turn indication at the last second, which gave the rider little time to react.
