Mum dies after she pushes son away to save him from oncoming train
A 41-year-old mother and her 11-year-old son were hit by an oncoming train while crossing a railway in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, at around 1pm on Tuesday (19 Nov).
The woman had just picked up her son from school and they were on their way home when the train approached, rendering them unable to cross the railway on time.
According to witnesses, the mum pushed her son away from her to save the boy before she was crushed by the train and dragged for about 20 metres.
11-year-old boy reportedly lost his leg
After receiving a report at 1.58pm, the Petaling Fire Brigade arrived at the scene at 2.20pm and found that the woman had died on the spot.

Meanwhile, her son was found sitting up and crying in pain some distance away.
He sustained severe injuries on his head and hands while his leg was broken.
The boy was sent to a hospital in Kota Kinabalu in an ambulance to receive treatment.
Meanwhile, The Star reported that the boy had lost his foot.
Case under investigation
The fire brigade removed the woman’s body from the tracks and handed it over to the police for further action.

After they cleaned the scene and ensured that it was safe, the train resumed operations.
Penampang District Police Chief Sami Newton has confirmed the accident, adding that the details of the case will be revealed after the investigation.
