Following the discovery of his actions, the officer voluntarily resigned after receiving a formal reprimand from his police chief.
Spent time at Tokyo Disneyland with his partner
According to The Mainichi, the officer, in his 20s, was stationed at a police station in Kobe.
On 28 Sept, he stayed overnight at his partner’s residence without prior permission.
He also took an unauthorised day off on 1 Oct, prompting his father to file a missing person report and his colleagues to search for him.
The officer was later found at Tokyo Disneyland with his partner.
Both checked out of a nearby hotel on 2 Oct.
Voluntarily resigned after skipping his work
In June, it was revealed that the officer had accumulated approximately 4 million yen (S$24,000) in debt from luxury purchases and entertainment expenses.
Although he initially requested to resign, he was persuaded to stay in order to repay the debt.

The officer reportedly remarked: “I disliked having my personal life scrutinised and receiving financial advice. I thought refusing to report to work would force my resignation.”
After receiving a formal reprimand from the prefectural police chief on 31 Oct, he eventually voluntarily resigned.
