Man Found Motionless Outside Punggol Unit on 14 Jul In Alleged Murder Case

Located on the outskirts of Punggol, residential blocks along Sumang Walk are typically rather peaceful and tranquil. However, on Wednesday (14 Jul), the presence of police officers in what appeared to be a murder case disrupted the quiet neighbourhood.

Turns out, a 46-year-old man was found dead with multiple stab wounds outside one of the residential units.

The police have since arrested a 43-year-old suspect.

According to The Straits Times (ST), the victim was found lying motionless outside a residential unit with numerous stab wounds.

The 46-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The apartment in question is likely on the 6th floor, which police had cordoned off, reports Channel NewsAsia (CNA).

Speaking to CNA, a resident from the block said she heard audible banging and shouting from the unit earlier in the afternoon.

Police officers reportedly arrived at the scene from around 3pm with numerous vehicles surrounding the block.

43-year-old suspect arrested for murder in Punggol

The police have arrested a 43-year-old male suspect in relation to the murder.

They handcuffed and brought him down at around 5pm, reports CNA.

Lianhe Zaobao understands that both men were neighbours, who apparently had a loud argument before the incident.

The suspect will be charged in court on Friday (16 Jul) for murder. If found guilty, he faces the death penalty.
