According to a Chosunbiz report, Jung’s friend recounted the incident on social media:

The plan was to pretend to fall and randomly give a gift card to one of the viewers and end [the livestream], but he slipped and fell down. It was a five-story building with a curb in the middle. I thought it was a joke, so I went down, but Ch1tkey didn’t respond. I called 119 and went to the emergency room, where they said he died from cardiac arrest.

Additionally, the rapper’s girlfriend shared a clip of her conversation with Jung’s mother, saying she spoke with the matriarch for about an hour about Jung’s death.

While netizens expressed their sympathies, claims soon emerged that the rumours of Jung’s death were false and were done to promote his new album.

“I know someone who lives in the house across from Ch1tkey’s building. The police came, and someone came out and said that it was to attract attention to promote the album. My girlfriend and I were both there,” one netizen reportedly claimed.

Soon after, Jung posted a video of him on Instagram dancing to his new song with the lyrics “I’m back” and captioning the post “Nice to meet you lol”.

His girlfriend also commented on the post, saying “I’m sorry, bbwing bbwing” and “Today is Easter”.

As a result, netizens were enraged by the stunt, questioning why the rapper thought joking about death was appropriate, reported Chosun Daily.
