Singtel Broadband Customers Won’t Enjoy Free Public WiFi From 1 Apr
If you’re a SingTel broadband user who relies on free WiFi to not exceed your monthly data, we’ve got some bad news for you.
According to AsiaOne, Singtel will be suspending their free public WiFi service, Singtel WiFi, from 1 Apr, so you’ll have to use other networks if you don’t want to bao your data.
Free WiFi service terminated for broadband customers from 1 Apr
AsiaOne reports that Singtel had begun gradually phasing out the service since 31 Jan, affecting new customers and existing ones who want to re-contract first.
Singtel WiFi is an unlimited service for subscribers to Singtel Combo mobile plans. Previously, they had over 2,000 hotspots that subscribers could connect to automatically, allowing them to save their data.
Now, the service will eventually come to an end for all broadband subscribers.
Note that mobile plan subscribers who don’t purchase the broadband combo may still enjoy the service, until further notice, according to an article on Hardware Zone.
However, Singtel has made plans to compensate some customers for this inconvenience.
Mid-tier plan subscribers get 1GB of additional data
To help out their mid-tier plan subscribers, Singtel will be giving them an additional 1GB of data. You can check the different combos below to find out if you qualify for the perk.
Alternatively, users can check out the XO plan which gives free data over the weekends.
Hopefully, these measures will allow users to make a smooth transition.
We can’t say we’re glad about the loss of free WiFi, but at least Wireless@SG still has our back.
