Primary student discovers python in ditch at Malaysia school
A primary school student found a python in a ditch at a school in Alor Gajah, Malacca, Malaysia on 7 Nov.

The young girl was playing with her friends near the school cafeteria when they spotted something “shiny” in the ditch at around 1.50pm.
After the girl told her teacher about her discovery, the teacher found out that the shiny object was actually a python.
Snakes often found in school
The teacher then called the Malaysian Civil Defense (APM) District Office Alor Gajah to help catch the snake.

According to the teacher, they find snakes around the school often, but these are usually small that they can chase them away themselves.
However, since the python was significantly larger, they decided to call the authorities.
The teacher suspects that the python came from the woods behind the school, despite the school’s cleaning efforts to prevent wild animals from entering its premises.
Python found to weigh 30 kilograms
According to Alor Gajah District Civil Defense Officer Captain Shahrulnizam Mad Shah, four personnel were sent to the school after receiving the report.
They found the python coiled in the ditch and it took them 20 minutes to capture it using lures and clamps.

Mr Shahrulnizam revealed that the python was about three metres long and weighed 30 kilograms.
It has since been taken to the Alor Gajah APM office for further action.
