A heart-stopping incident unfolded in Tengah when a woman was seen dangling halfway over the parapet of an HDB block.

The dramatic scene was captured in a video posted on social media platform Xiaohongshu on Sunday (1 Dec), showing the woman’s lower body hanging precariously over the edge.

Loud screams could be heard echoing through the area, while neighbours below looked up anxiously at the scene.

Thankfully, at least three individuals were seen holding on to the woman, preventing her from falling.

The rescuers, who appeared to be wearing face masks and gloves, were heard talking to the woman and one another. At one point, one of them seemed to be on the phone, possibly seeking further assistance.

Finally, after bracing themselves, they managed to hoist the woman over the parapet and back to safety on the corridor.

Screams heard from nearby McDonalds, says netizen

In the comments, the user who posted the video said that the incident took place the night before at Plantation Crescent in Tengah.

One netizen said they initially thought it was a fight after they heard a commotion.

Apparently, the screams were so loud they could reportedly be heard from a nearby McDonald’s outlet.

Police respond to incident in Tengah, woman apprehended

In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it received a call for assistance at about 12.20am on 1 Dec.

It came from Block 119C Plantation Crescent.

There, a 30-year-old woman was apprehended under Section 7 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.

The statute says that police officers must apprehend “any person believed to be dangerous to himself or herself or other persons and such danger is reasonably suspected to be attributable to a mental disorder”.

She was conveyed conscious to the hospital, SPF added.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force, which was alerted at about 12.15am, told MS News that she was sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
