Air Canada flight from Canada to Singapore hit with turbulence
Passengers on an Air Canada flight from Vancouver, Canada to Singapore encountered terrifying turbulence on 11 Oct.
A passenger on Flight AC19 shared his experience on Reddit, which sparked comments from other people who were on the same flight.
Reddit user u/HefetzHashud described how the plane “hit some major bumps”, causing everything — including people — to be thrown into the air about two hours after takeoff from the Vancouver International Airport.

He estimates that the turbulence lasted about four to seven minutes, “but there was one huge drop in altitude that sent everything flying”.
The passenger also mentioned that the passengers had no warning “at all,” and it “took everyone by surprise”.
Food flew to the ceiling after a huge drop
Another Reddit user, u/JaneDohe, commented on the post saying she was on the same flight.
She recalled the seatbelt sign being on as the plane had already been going through turbulence before the sudden drop.
“All you see is heads go up, food and drinks hit the roof. I hope most people had their seat belts on!! Because that would have hurt so much,” she wrote.
She added that the experience felt like “one of those rides at the fair that bring you up high, and drop you fast.”
“I was terrified, never had turbulence like that before. Really made me realize how helpless you are on a plane,” she shared.
u/Candid-Ebb7103, who also claimed to be on the same flight said it felt like riding a roller coaster “where you have several seconds of weightlessness”.
“The cabin was full of floating food! I had coffee dripping on me from the ceiling and was picking rice out of my hair afterwards,” they added.

Flight continued to Singapore
When asked if the flight diverted after the turbulence, u/JaneDohe said that they continued the journey to Singapore without any further incidents.
An Air Canada spokesperson confirmed that the flight encountered “some turbulence” about three hours into the 16-hour journey, reported USA Today.
The plane landed safely at Changi Airpot about 26 minutes later than scheduled, with no injuries reported.
“The aircraft underwent a full, mandatory inspection and has since returned to service,” the spokesperson stated.
