Malakat Mall Hosts Fashion Show For Children With Down Syndrome

A shopping mall in Malaysia recently hosted a special fashion show — in which the models were children with Down syndrome.

In a video posted on 31 July, the children pose in fashionable clothing in front of an appreciative audience.

Models walk down the runway regardless of age

While some of the older children confidently took the runway on their own, others had moral support.

Several of the children walked down the runway with an accompanying adult.

Though they appeared nervous, they courageously made the walk regardless.

As it turns out, the organisers did not limit the fashion show to just children.

Several adults with Down syndrome also graced the catwalk.

Children with Down syndrome face discrimination from not just their peers, but society at large.

The BBC reported on a nursery that discriminated against a young student with Down syndrome in February this year.

With the video going viral, it’s safe to say the organisers have succeeded in raising a good amount of positive awareness for children with Down syndrome.
