Housekeeper in Thailand receives inheritance from French businesswoman
A housekeeper in Koh Samui received a massive inheritance after a French villa owner reportedly killed herself.
The assets, valued at up to ฿100 million (S$3.6 million), include a villa, vacant land, luxury car, accessories, jewellery, and an undisclosed amount of cash in the bank.
The circumstances surrounding the 59-year-old villa owner’s apparent suicide remain unclear.
Housekeeper knows businesswoman for over 17 years
According to Thai CH8, Nattawalai, or Tim, said she had known the French villa owner, Catherine, for more than 17 years.

At first, she began working as a housekeeper at Catherine’s rental rooms, following the suggestion of Catherine’s friend. Later, Catherine expanded her businesses by opening luxury villas and resorts, with her continuing to work as her personal housekeeper.
Twelve years ago, Catherine bought land on Koh Samui and registered it as a company to operate five villas, and she also had one built for personal residency.
The properties were managed by three people, including Tim, Catherine, and her ex-husband, Vincent.
Pool cleaner calls Tim to tell her about Catherine’s death
On Monday (29 April), a pool cleaner at Catherine’s private villa phoned Tim and told her that Catherine was dead by the pool, reported Khaosod.
Tim rushed to the villa and found Catherine’s body with a wound on her temple, and another co-worker spotted a pistol dropped next to the body.
As the CCTV camera was turned away from the scene so the final moment was not captured, her death remains a mystery, Thai CH8 reported.

After calling the police, Tim discovered an alarming message from Catherine on the Line application. The message reportedly informed her about assets that would be transferred to her.
According to the message, Catherine left her villa, adjacent land, luxury car, jewellery kept in the safe container, and an undisclosed sum of money in the bank to Tim, all totalling ฿50 million (S$1.8 million).
Moreover, Catherine transferred two of her villas to Vincent, and requested Tim to take care of her three cats.
Tim said she also received ฿500,000 (S$18,000) from Catherine for funeral expenses as well as her wages and funds for utility bills. Adding that she felt very sad, she said she would arrange the best funeral for Catherine.

Tim is still unsure about the villa’s future but has no intention of selling it, nor the luxury car.
Catherine suffers from her cancer
Tim said Catherine’s suicide might be from the stress of suffering from cancer, as she often complained about her pain to Tim.
Before the incident on Sunday (28 April), the CCTV captured that Catherine used a floor mop to point the surveillance camera away.
In a final message written in French, Catherine expressed her trust in Tim due to her honesty, which was why she had chosen her to be the executor of her will.
According to Thai CH8, she said her will can be found in her safe and made final requests, including her final resting place as well as a list of friends and relatives who should be informed about her death.
