Bride upset after relatives sit at VIP table at her wedding
For many couples, a wedding is one of life’s most anticipated milestones, with months of planning poured into ensuring the day runs smoothly.
As such, any disruption, whether uninvited guests or breaches of the dress code, can be deeply upsetting.
A bride in Malaysia recently took to Threads to express her frustration after several relatives allegedly seated themselves at a VIP table during her wedding reception.

In the now-deleted post, the bride described the group as “shameless”, claiming their behaviour had tarnished the image of her modern wedding venue.
She also accused them of helping themselves to the door gifts placed at the table.
Table reserved for titled guests
Responding to comments, the bride clarified that the table was reserved exclusively for guests with Datuk titles, who had received special invitations.
She said she believed the group may have assumed they could sit there because some of their close relatives were seated nearby. However, she stressed that the table was not meant for them.
According to the bride, the floor manager was aware of the seating arrangements but was temporarily occupied at the time, which allowed the group to take the seats unnoticed.

She added that the individuals were distant relatives whom she was not personally familiar with.
Beyond occupying the VIP table, the bride was further upset that the group allegedly did not adhere to the wedding’s dress code, which she said affected her wedding photographs.
Relative claims family gave permission
Subsequently, a man claiming to be one of the relatives involved responded to the post.
He said that family members from the bride’s side had instructed them to sit at the table, adding that they were initially hesitant as they knew it was meant for VIPs.
The man also criticised the bride for airing the issue online, accusing her of lacking manners and arguing that such matters should not be made viral.
However, the bride disputed his account, stating that his version of events contradicted statements from his own family members, who had allegedly said it was the event crew who directed them to the table.
She also asked for the door gift to be returned. In response, the man suggested settling the matter privately rather than “slandering” people online.
The bride maintained that she was not defaming anyone, insisting that she was simply recounting what had happened.
