Motorcyclist killed in collision with school bus driver
On Monday afternoon (14 Oct), a tragic accident occurred in Malaysia when a motorcyclist collided with a school bus on a road bend, leaving him trapped under the bus.
He suffered severe injuries to his head and body and died at the scene.
Victim suffered fatal injuries in accident
According to Tawau District Police Chief Jasmin Hussian, police received a report at 1.45pm about the accident along Kampung Kalabakan Road in Sabah’s Tawau district.
Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and used special equipment to retrieve the victim, a 19-year-old Pakistani national named Mr Shah Bakht Amin.
He was pronounced dead due to severe injuries to his head and body at about 2.45pm, according to The Star.
His body was handed over to the police at around 5pm.
Initial investigations revealed that the 37-year-old school bus driver was travelling from Kg Kapilit toward Kalabakan when the accident occurred.
The motorcycle, coming from the opposite direction, collided with the bus at a bend in the road.
School bus driver was unlicensed and under influence of drugs
Further investigations by police revealed that the bus driver, who has since been taken into custody, was driving under the influence of drugs and did not possess a valid driver’s license.
The authorities have urged anyone with information related to the accident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
