Elderly woman in Malaysia fights thief who snatched her gold necklace
While most would be too stunned to react to a robbery, a 71-year-old woman in Penang, Malaysia, fearlessly fought a thief who snatched her gold necklace.
Footage of the confrontation has made its rounds online, where a woman in a helmet can be seen hitting another motorcyclist.

The incident occurred on Monday (26 May) at around 5pm, while the woman was riding a motorcycle back home from the market.
Thief posed as police officer
The woman’s son told Sin Chew Daily that a man, posing as a police officer, stopped his mother en route and said he wanted to inspect her.
However, she quickly figured out that he was not who he claimed to be, as he was not wearing a uniform.
The man reportedly snatched her gold necklace out of the sudden, snapping it in half.
Unwilling to back down easily, the woman picked up a water container from her motorcycle and used it to hit the thief several times.
The snatcher failed to take the remaining half of the necklace, fleeing in haste.
Woman suffered minor injuries
The woman suffered minor abrasions from the altercation, and lost part of her gold necklace that is estimated to be worth more than RM2,000 (S$609).
While she had not received help from other motorists and residents during the incident, some bystanders had checked on her afterwards.

“Because my mother didn’t cry for help when she was robbed, others might have thought it was just a fight,” he stated.
The woman’s son noted that while there had been almost no robberies in the area in the past two decades, he hoped authorities would pay attention to the incident.
