Family of 3 killed in Thai accident, workers overseeing bodies hear ghostly wails from coffins

Ghostly wails heard by Thai workers overseeing bodies of accident victims

On 27 Nov, a drunk driver in Thailand drove at excess speeds of 207km/h. She hit a family of three aboard a motorcycle, killing them all immediately.

She had been driving with only one hand on the wheel while recording herself speeding.

The accident left a man without his wife and two children.

Although she initially fled the scene, the driver has since turned herself over to the police and has been released on a bail of ฿100,000 (S$3,900).

About a week after the tragic accident, rescue workers overseeing the bodies of the three victims have reported ghostly wails in the night. They also allegedly saw the coffins vibrate.

Widower brings offerings and lights incense for family

On 3 Dec, the bodies of the three victims were transported to the Chumphon Charitable Welfare Foundation where they are temporarily stored until cremation.

Since then, the workers at the foundation have reported hearing a woman crying as well as seeing the mother’s coffin vibrate.

The strange activities have led the foundation to request the bereaved husband and father of the victims to appease the spirits.

On Thursday (5 Dec), the 50-year-old widower brought his deceased family’s favourite food to where their bodies were kept.

While making offerings and lighting incense, he told his family to remain calm and not bother the poor workers. He also assured them he’d be back for them soon.

The man coincidentally visited the foundation to placate his family’s spirits on Father’s Day — a fact which he had forgotten.

He shared that the family would often cook and spend time at home together on this day.

This might have been his family’s way of reminding him of the special occasion, he said.
