Edwin Tong to anchor PAP’s East Coast team which comprises 2 new faces

Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth and Second Minister for Law, will be anchoring the People’s Action Party (PAP) East Coast team for GE2025.

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Heng Swee Keat, who was the anchor minister for East Coast GRC, will not contest GE2025.

PAP’s slate of candidates for East Coast GRC is:

  • Mr Edwin Tong
  • Mr Tan Kiat How
  • Ms Jessica Tan
  • Ms Hazlina Abdul Halim
  • Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash

They will be up against the Workers’ Party, which is fielding:

  • Jasper Kuan
  • Nathaneiel Koh
  • Sufyan Mikhail Putra
  • Paris V Parameswari
  • Yee Jeen Jong

DPM Heng Swee Keat say it’s the “right time” to make way

In a social media post on Wednesday (23 April) afternoon, DPM Heng Swee Keat announced that he will not be standing GE2025.

Mr Heng said he believes now is the “right time to make way for a new team of capable individuals who are well-placed to serve Singapore”.

He took the opportunity to thank Singaporeans for their support throughout his political career, which spanned nearly 15 years.
